SUNDAYS ARE FOR MARKETS

Many of us love the idea of Sundays being a day for rest. And rest looks different for all of us. Sometimes, my rest-day looks like exploring places.

The Oranjezicht City Farm Market is situated at Granger Bay at the V & A Waterfront, Cape Town. A friend took me there for the first time and it has since become a favourite of mine. They have a full market on Sunday from 9am – 2pm, and it gets really full. The market offers food, produce, farm-style lifestyle and everything in-between. If you are a fan of home-grown organic products and fresh fruit & veggies, this market should be at the top of your list.

I had an amazing time every time I have been there. The atmosphere, the food, the drinks… All of it is amazing. It also allows one the chance to try some new food. I am not someone that is super health-conscious, but my friend is. So I decided to join her and have a freshly squeezed juice, with a whole lot of greens. It tasted so good. I also had some great tacos, yum! The market is also well-sheltered, so if you’re not a fan of the sun, no worries. There is guaranteed shade everywhere.

Something I did not quite enjoy was the number of dogs that were roaming around. I have nothing against dogs, but I am deathly afraid of them. Any time I am aware of dogs in my presence, I find it hard to fully relax and be in the moment.

If you ever find yourself around the area, stop by. I guarantee you’ll love it, especially if its during the summer. I mean, what could possibly be better than spending your Sunday morning/early afternoon at a market by the ocean?
